Don Empey Photography:         Welcome to the website of journalist/ photographer Don Empey.

Born in Utrecht, Holland, I first found interest in the photographic medium by watching family events unfold before me through the lens of my uncles flickering movie camera. I emigrated to Canada in 1961 and quickly immersed myself in 35mm, shooting nature and a few weddings until seeing my first motorcycle race at Shannonville Motorsport Park. I was bitten and traded my cameras for a racing motorcycle, competing in B.O.T.T. events as well as several vintage and 125 cc Grand Prix racing series. I won the Canadian Battle of The Twins in 1987 and realized there was a severe lack of good race coverage photography. I once again picked up the cameras and as they say, the rest is history. I cover the R.A.C.E. SuperSeries for Inside Motorcycles and Cycle News magazines, both written and photographic, as well as work for several local publications. I have been pubished in The Toronto Star as well as Canadian Bike and Cycle Canada magazines.I worked at Queen's University in Kingston as a sports/action photographer for their athletic department.

  I am currently located in Plainfield, Ontario, just north of Shannonville Motorsport Park, where it all began.

          My greatest love is photographing nature and I look to every opportunity to get out in the great Canadian outdoors and capture the beauty of the Canadian wildlife.
